"Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be shaken." Ps 55:22

From Phillippians 4:7 and 19:  "...the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. My God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

Cast Your Burden on the Lord   from Psalms 55:22
Music/text modifications by Keri Jacobs
Hymn text from Rowland Hills Psalms & Hymns

dedicated to Kathy and Rob Riddle (story at bottom of page)*

Cast your burden on the Lord; only lean upon His word
You will soon have cause to bless His eternal faithfulness
He has promised to impart perfect peace to guard your heart
All your needs He will supply through His riches found in Christ
Cast your burden on the Lord

Jesus, guardian of Your flock; be Yourself our constant Rock
Make us by Your pow'rful hand strong as Zion's mountain stand

He sustains you by His hand; He enables you to stand
His compassion, love and pow'r are the same forevermore
Heaven and earth may pass away; God's free gift shall not decay
He has promised to fulfill all the pleasures of His will
Cast your burden on the Lord

*My family was gone all day at the airshow so I felt like trying to write a song (instead of doing the million other things that were on my 'to do' list).  I had Rob and Kathy Riddle on my mind as they were going through some big life changes that were stressful.  A title in my hymnal caught my eye, "Cast Your Burden on the Lord."  The text was powerful, and I thought it would be nice to try to write something to encourage Rob and Kathy. I couldn't quite fit all of the hymn text into the song so I asked Kathy for a favorite Bible verse of her's that I could use. She suggested something from Phillippians. I was hoping she'd say "Psalm # so and so" because lines from the Psalms are easier to fit into a song than Phillippians! But being able to use Phillippians 4:7 and  4:19 really added to the assurance in the song that the Lord will supply all we need and give us His peace. - Keri
